Sweet and Salty Pecans (low histamine)

🥣Today has been rough, so I made something sweet to lift my spirits.

🌰This recipe takes only 5 minutes to prepare, and you can use any nuts you’d like. You’ll need just 3 ingredients: nuts, maple syrup, and Maldon sea salt flakes. I love having these lightly sweetened nuts as a quick snack, as smoothie toppers, and over coconut ice cream, oatmeal, chia pudding, and mug cakes.

INGREDIENTS

Pecans

Maple syrup

Maldon sea salt flakes

MAKE ‘EM

1. Put pecans in a pan on medium heat, stirring occasionally until they’re fragrant and toasted (you’ll see their brown color deepen a bit). Keep stirring. Watch them closely so they don’t burn.

2. Pour maple syrup (not too much) over the pecans, and stir a bit (1ish minutes, until you see the pecans get a bit sticky/have absorbed the maple syrup.

3. Remove from heat and place on parchment paper to dry. Sprinkle with Maldon sea salt flakes.

**GF/DF/LOW HISTAMINE (I followed mastcell360 low histamine foods list very strictly initially, then added some foods from the SIGHI list as I began to tolerate more foods, all under the care of a dietitian. A low histamine diet is restrictive and not meant to be followed long-term, as nutrient deficiencies may develop).**
